Distinguishing Features of the Plant Brassica napus is an annual or biennial plant growing up to 1m, with smooth, fluffy, green leaves and yellow, cross-shaped flowers with four petals. The flowering period depends on the sowing time, as the plant requires 90 days to grow and another 30 days to bloom.

Pharmacological Effects - Therapeutic Applications The whole plant has tonic properties and it is recommended against the mental and physical fatigue. Also, it has antioxidant properties and it is used as component in anti-aging products, as well as in food supplements, which may improve memory and concentration ability in student during the examination periods. In folk medicine it is recommended as emollient and diuretic. The juice of the root is used for the treatment of chronic cough, runny nose and rheumatism.
Method of Administration The plant is given orally as a tonic, in the form of oil (10g, once a day). The essential oil, which is used as an ingredient in cosmetic products, can also be applied externally to the skin. it is also used as an ingredient in dietary supplements
