Pharmacological Effects - Therapeutic Applications | The herbal tea has antispasmodic, antidiarrheal, cholagogue, antiseptic, expectorant, antipyretic and vasodilator properties. It is recommended for the treatment of common cold, bronchitis, gastrointestinal disorders and perspirant. Also, it is administered as antiseptic in the form of gargles for the treatment of gingivitis, sore throat, laryngitis, pharyngitis and tonsillitis. Finally, in folk medicine it is used due to its anticonvulsant, emmenagogue and estrogenic properties against dysmenorrhea and several disorders of menstruation. |
Method of Administration | The plant is administered as digestive and immune stimulant in the form of herbal tea (10-20g of dried herb in 1L of boiled water, three times a day). This herbal tea may also be used in the form of gargling as oral antiseptic. Warning: The use of herb preparations is not recommended without seeking advice from your physician or pharmacist.
