Pharmacological Effects - Therapeutic Applications The herbal tea has emollient, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, diuretic and immune stimulant properties. It is administered for the treatment of common cold, herpes, pharyngitis and respiratory infections. Also, due to its tonic action it is recommended to help patients to recover from cold and to improve physical endurance during exercise or stress. In China it is used against chronic hepatitis, as well as cardio and as adjunctive therapy in cancer.
Method of Administration The plant is administered as anti-inflammatory and immune stimulant in the form of herbal tea (8-15g of dried root in 1L of boiled water, once a day) and in the form of capsules (a capsule, 1-2 times a day).
Warning: The use of herb preparations is not recommended without seeking advice from your physician or pharmacist. The substances they contain may interact with the subscribed drugs that the patient already takes, thus eliminating their therapeutic efficacy or inducing toxicity. They may also burden further weakened vital functions of the body thus exposing the patient to increased morbidity and life threatened conditions.
Toxicity- Adverse Effects It is not recommended the concomitant administration of Astragalus creticus and other immunosuppressive drugs (eg cyclophosphamide), as well in cases of colds, viral diseases, skin problems and severe stress.
