Distinguishing Features of the Plant Αegopodium podagraria is a perennial, herbaceous plant growing from 0,8 to 1m, with oval, wavy leaves and white or red, hermaphrodite flowers in inflorescence. The flowering and the harvesting take place from June to August.

Pharmacological Effects - Therapeutic Applications The whole plant has sedative, anti-inflammatory, diuretic, soothing and healing properties. It is administered in the form of herbal tea for the treatment of gout, lower back pain, rheumatism, sciatica and the disorders of urinary bladder, kidneys and intestine. It is applied externally in the form of poultice made from the dried leaves for the treatment of burns, wounds, arthritic pain, insect bites and hemorrhoids.
Method of Administration The plant is administered as diuretic and sedative in the form of herbal tea (10g of dried herb in a cup of boiled water, 3 times a day). It is applied externally as healing and soothing in the form of poultice (15g of dried, crushed leaves in a quantity of alcohol)
