Distinguishing Features of the Plant Lilium martagon is a perennial, herbaceous plant growing from 0,9 to 1,8m, with lanceolate leaves and deep red or flesh-coloured flowers. The flowering and the harvesting last from June to July and the fruiting takes place from August to September.

Pharmacological Effects - Therapeutic Applications The root's extract has cardiotonic, emmenagogue, diuretic, emollient and expectorant properties. It is administered for the treatment of heart diseases, as well against pain associated with angina pectoris. Also, it is recommended against fluid retention, dysmenorrhea, amenorrhea, skin ulcers and other skin problems.
Method of Administration The plant is administered as cardiotonic, diuretic and emollient in the form of herbal tea (3 spoons of dried root in a cup of boiled water, three times a day), while it is applied externally to the skin mainly against ulcers.
