Distinguishing Features of the Plant Bidens tripartita is an annual herb growing up to 60cm, with lanceolate, serrated, green leaves and small, yellow, hermaphrodite flowers. The flowering and the harvesting take place from July to September.

Pharmacological Effects - Therapeutic Applications The whole plant is used as astringent, laxative, sedative, sudorific and diuretic, and it is recommended in the form of herbal tea for the treatment of various renal and bladder's problems, diarrhea and colitis. Due to its astringent action the plant is administered against bleeding, metrorrhagia, haematuria and ulcers, while it is applied externally against alopecia. Finally, the odor which emerges during flowers' burning has a strong insect repellent action.
Method of Administration It is administered as a laxative, astringent and diuretic in the form of herbal tea (1-2 spoons of dried herb in a cup of boiled water, three times a day) and tincture (1-2 mL, three times a day)
